Panel: Putting the PaaS in OpenStack with Heat, Docker, & Solum!

PaaS technologies are constantly evolving especially when it comes to OpenStack. We all know that this is a fast moving space, and it's often hard to keep up with the latest technologies and project announcements. Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) helps solve one of the key issues for OpenStack deployments - how to get people, applications and services working on OpenStack out of the box and to ensure that the “unboxing” experience is as seamless and painless as possible.

This group of panelists from OpenStack, OpenShift, Docker & Solum projects will help you navigate the latest innovations in technology helping to bring PaaS to OpenStack.

The OpenShift PaaS community has already “adopted” Heat, OpenStack's orchestration engine, and delivered a set of Heat templates for deploying, managing and auto-scaling OpenShift on any OpenStack distribution today.

Now, the OpenShift community is now embracing & collaborating with the Docker project, a new innovative approach to container isolation and packaging which has the potential to both simplify our cartridges in OpenShift and increase user application portability across all cloud platforms and is gaining widespread traction.

You might have also seen the announcement around another new community project called "Solum" launched by Rackspace that's bringing together a group of like-minded companies and individuals to figure out the approach to application lifecycle management that makes the most sense for OpenStack.  At Red Hat, we tremendous potential to align our PaaS approach with this project.  Being Red Hat, we love community driven innovation, and so we’re excited to jump in and help move this effort forward.

This panel provide lessons learned at Red Hat on deploying OpenShift Origin, RedHat's Open Source Platform as a Service on OpenStack using Heat, and discuss the road ahead for delivering PaaS & Application Life Cycle management on OpenStack.

Bring your questions and we'll bring you upto speed in all the latest technology initiatives that are helping "Put the PaaS in OpenStack".

About OpenShift:

OpenShift Origin PaaS project is backed by the fastest growing open-source community of developers, cloud architects, devops, and end users intent on creating the next generation of PaaS and ensuring that the tools for deploying, managing & scaling it for OpenStack are freely available. http://openshift.com
